Ngamiland Food Festival bigger better

29 Mar 2017

Organisers of the Annual Cresta Rileys Ngamiland Food Festival slated for May 27 have promised a bigger and better event to attract people from all walks of life.
In an interview, one of the organisers, Wame Masike said apart from fun and entertainment, the event, themed: Lobebe la Ngwao, was geared towards giving part of the proceeds to charitable organisations.
Masike, who is Cresta Rileys sales manager, said they would get P100 from each corporate table worth P1 500, P10 from a double and single ticket worth P190 and P140 for donation to charitable organisations.
Furthermore, she said they had also accommodated a fashion show to allow local designers to showcase their designs for free, a move that would help them to market themselves to local and foreign customers attending the event.
She implored residents of Maun and the surrounding areas to come in droves and buy tickets to make the event a success.
The aim is to support charity organisations such as Thuso Rehabilitation Centre, Tshidilo Stimulation Centre and Motse Wa Tsholofelo, among others, through the event on a yearly basis.
"Without support from the community, we will not be able to achieve this milestone alone as a hotel; therefore we urge companies to come on board and help us to see the event grow bigger and better to the extent that it can compete regionally and internationally," she appealed.
Masike furthermore explained that they would offer accommodation and meals at a discounted price during the even to cater for those who would be coming from faraway places.
She said her hotel was strategically located at the centre of Maun from where people could easily access shopping malls, the bus and taxi ranks just by walking.
The organiser said they were working around the clock to engage their sponsors for the upcoming event, citing that last year the event was supported by organisations such as the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Culture Development, Botswana Meat Commission and Letshego, among others.
“It is our hope that the support will continue even this year,” she appealed once again.
Masike said the legendary folklore artist, Molefi Monaga, popularly known as Stiga Sola, will grace the occasion in addition to other artists. ENDS
