Beauty queen pledges to live out spirit of pageant

Khwee beauty queen who was crowned Miss RADP central has been urged to uphold the spirit of developing people’s lives in the community.
Social performance and community relations specialist  at Orapa Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines, Ketsile Molokomme has said .
Molokomme said this during the crowning ceremony in Letlhakane on Thursday.
She said as a beauty queen she needed to have love for humanity.
Khwee beauty queen Ms Kesetse Baoreng who was the first princess during Ms RADP central final competitions qualified for the crown following the departure of the winner to pursue other career endeavours.
Molokomme noted that Baoreng as a reigning beauty queen was an ambassador, and as such she had to recognise and empower women and the girl child.
She said Baoreng had the responsibility to advocate and call for peace amongst families.
In addition she stated it was essential to absorb other duties under her fold such as education, as much as being an ambassador on health seeking behaviours.
Molokomme also indicated that the beauty queen was a developmental ambassador and should embark on projects that would not discriminate against others.
Furthermore she said self respect and integrity were essential during the reign.
Principal community development officer Josephine Kgolagano said the objectives of Miss CDC RADP pageant was to promote affirmative action as per government initiative.
Kgolagano said affirmative action was a new tool used to assist Remote Area Dwellers to access all the amenities to achieve their desired goals.
She said it was an attempt to promote equal opportunities for remote area communities.
The pageant is intended to empower life skills, bridging the gap between  remote area dwellers and society as a whole.
Kgolagano said its aim was also to expose young women in rural communities to a world of beauty competition and build a sense of esteem.
Beauty queen Baoreng said she started beauty contests in 2013 and was crowned second princess. She said she won Ms best personality during 2016/17 final competitions. She appreciated support she received from Boteti sub-council and her family. ENDS
