Wedding expo attracts many
27 Mar 2017
Interacting with customers in a forum such as wedding expo is an opportunity that some business owners cannot let to slip especially those who provide services needed to make a perfect wedding.
This is why business owners from Gaborone, Palapye and villages in the periphery descended at Botsalo Cresta Hotel to grab the opportunity to interact with potential customers
Ania Bosekeng, owner of AB's Paradise specialising in wedding cakes came all the way from Serowe to show customers that one does not have to travel long distances to Gaborone or Francistown to buy a wedding cake or a theme cake for her birthday.
“A cake is very important in a wedding, it is a covenant meal that couples feast on after being pronounced husband and wife,” she said.
Bosekeng specialises in cakes for various occasions, fruit cakes, velvet, vanilla and sponge cakes.
Bosekeng needed not go for training to bake cakes, rather she learnt that skill from a friend who introduced her into the world of baking.
She is currently operating at home in Serowe but has sought a place where she will operate from once the loan she applied for at Gender Affairs Department gets approved.
Her ambition is to produce on a larger scale targeting various occasions in Central District, as well as purchase more equipment to enable her to produce more.
Timeless Moment, a youth owned company specialising in wedding rings also came all the way from Gaborone to interact with customers in Palapye.
One of the owners Olebile Tautsagae said Timeless Moment existed with the aim to offer Batswana affordable weddings through affordable wedding rings.
He said some people did not get married because they could not afford to buy wedding rings and other things needed to make a wedding.
He said at Timeless Moments it took only P1800 to get two rings for couples preparing to go into marriage.
He says Timeless Moment rings were not only affordable but were also of good quality, made of silver and copper.
The ring, he said could stay for more than 20 years without rusting.
He said even though silver was cheaper than gold, it was the in thing as newly wedded couples wanted to be seen wearing silver rings.
Timeless Moment has been operating at home but is now moving to BBS Mall.
One of the customers Oratile Shabane commended the organisers of the wedding expo for bringing such an event in Palapye, saying that weddings in Palapye became more expensive because couples did not know that the services they wanted were available in their locality.
She said couples find themselves travelling to Gaborone for small items such as wedding cakes and décor.
The expo was also attended by florists, fashion designers, tents and décor businesses as well as photographers. ENDS
