Motlhalamme appears for corruption

A 34-year-old man was recently arraigned before  Regional Magistrate Court (South) charged with a single count of corruption in respect of an official transaction, contrary to Section 25 (1) as read with Section 42 and punishable under Section 36 of the Corruption and Economic Crime Act of 1994.
Investigations conducted by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) revealed that the accused person, Thabo Motlhalamme, on September 28 2015 at Tlokweng Border Post  accepted a valuable consideration in the sum of P1 000 from Keitumetse Suping as a reward for not charging both Keitumetse Suping and Anastacia Mogorosi P12 108 for false declaration of goods to Botswana Unified Revenue Services,  the fining of persons for which the accused was concerned with in his capacity as a public officer.
The accused will appear again in court for mention on May 22, 2017. Belinda Oaitse of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) appeared for the state while the accused was unrepresented. ENDS
