Botswana’s rock and roll group, The Skinflint is ready for an impressive performance at the ongoing The Shadows Show 2017 in the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland.
The Shadows Show World Tour is an annual event that started on Wednesday and will run until March 18. It gathers heavy metal artistes worldwide with The Skinflint expected to perform alongside My Own Ghost, a metal group from Luxembourg, founded in 2013.
The Skinflint will support Tarja Soile Susanna Turunen-Cabuli generally known as Tarja, a Finnish singer-songwriter, lyrical soprano artiste with a vocal range of three octaves, who will be unveiling her new rock album The Shadow Self released in 2016, as the tour title depicts.
Tarja is well known as a professional classical singer and best known as the former lead vocalist of the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, which she founded with Tuomas Holopainen and Emppu Vuorinen in 1996.
Her album has been praised by the media as Tarja’s ‘personal masterpiece’ and as it is seen to present ‘many facets and a rich variety at the highest level’, combining ‘the best of massive riffs, enchanting melodious sound cascades and Tarja’s unique voice.
Skinflint is a three piece Heavy Metal band, founded by guitarist and vocalist Giuseppe Sbrana in 2006. The group has incorporated elements from African culture with Heavy Metal music.
Their releases Iklwa, Gauna, Dipoko Nyemba, and Chief of the Ghosts pay homage to African spirituality and mythology. A press release from the band says while still playing in the vein of
Traditional Heavy Metal, this has been seen as a pioneering example of African Metal.
The band has played in shows in Southern Africa, Kenya and Sweden, and in recent months and has signed up with worldwide agency metal music bookings. ENDS
