It is often said that Rome was not built in one day. A lot is also said about history being made and records broken, legacy left for generations to come and people becoming martyrs for their dreams or people.

In his quest to help grow not only the music industry but also to be a model to local artistes, Tshepiso Molapisi famously known as Kast has decided to walk 1000km from Maun to Gaborone for his Tlatsa Lebala campaign and filling up the National Stadium with hundred per cent local acts.

In an interview on February 20, Kast said he has walked over 500 kilometres since he launched his walk on February 12 but had to lay off some days due to the torrential rains.

Kast said he has a supportive team of six that include his physio therapist, production team and his walk mate, director of Incredible Giant Construction Company Mokwena Marobela.

He held that he is optimist Tlatsa Lebala will be a success especially after the walk.

On when he would reach Gaborone, he said it was not about when he would arrive in Gaborone but walking all the 1000km.

He also said the social media feud that occurred a while back is long forgotten and said Casper Nyovest’ management has pledged P200 000 towards the event of Tlatsa Lebala but they had been silent on it ever since.

For local support, he said he had been offered to use the stadium under terms of operation and had to cover all the costs that amount to over P120 000.

On the progress of the walk, he said in Maun they have had about 25 people who volunteered to walk a few kilometres while others walked over 10 kilometres.

He added that some businesses had pledged all expenses covered such as accommodation in lodges.

Kast however said it had been a challenging experience especially for his physic as he had not yet adapted to walking the distance but thanked his physio therapist for his expertise.

“The pain is too much I mean it’s more than what I anticipated, I have a hard time with my muscles but it is all worth it. On the brighter side, people support us because it’s not just me, they made pledges even a word of mouth in most instances gives us hope and they welcome us in their villages, people have offered to buy energy drinks and water and we have accepted all that, some want to take pictures still we give them that,” Kast explained.

Kast further thanked the support of the entire community, local artistes for their Tlatsa Komane for Kast 1000km walk and said the support was amazing and implored more support from corporate entities.

His walk mate, Mokwena Marobela who volunteered to walk with Kast all the 1000 km said he joined the walk after the realisation that people were against and criticised the idea of Kast walking from Maun to Gaborone.

Marobela said he is on leave from his top managerial position to support what he reckoned as history in the local and possibly regional entertainment arena and urged the public to join hands and support Kast so they may share the pride of his success.

Meanwhile, the organiser for the Tlatsa Komane event that was hosted on February 19, Loapi Events president, Kenny Boiteto said the aim of the event was to raise funds specifically for Kast’s walk.

Boiteto said the turn up was incredible as they managed to raise a few thousands that would be sent to help where it was best needed.

“I personally talked Kast from the idea of a 1000km walk I didn’t understand why he wanted to walk so badly but today I share his ambition and want to help him attain his dream. We should support anybody who has a dream especially for the nation; Kast went all out I suppose I am not the only one who talked him out of the idea but now we are in full support and we appreciate his enthusiasm, all the more I love the effort of local artistes,” Boiteto said.
