Preparations for one of the biggest cultural events in the country, Son of the Soil are in a full swing.

Bana ba Mmala Trust in collaboration with partners will present the 14th edition of Son of the Soil cultural festival at Serokolwane farms on February 25.

As part of the preparations, Bana ba Mmala Trust, on Friday hosted a workshop on different topics on Setswana culture, such as thobo (harvest), Botswana cultural dresses, linguistic pride and Setswana traditional weddings among others.

Speaking at the workshop, Boitumelo Mwendapole said the objective of the cultural festival was to foster a sense of national pride and cultural identity.

She said the full day event would be characterised by cooking competition, traditional games, traditional dance and will  culminate with choral  competions between  North and South choirs. It will be held under the theme, Re Kgabile. BOPA
