Maun police are investigating the death of a 24-year-old woman of Bombadi ward.
Station commander, Superintendent Kenanao Badumetse said the woman was stabbed with a sharp instrument and was certified dead at the hospital.
He said they had arrested a 27-year-old man, who was alleged to be an ex-boyfriend of the deceased. Superintendent Badumetse said the suspect was brought to police by cluster committee members after he reported himself to the relatives of the deceased.
He said the deceased originated from Tutume and was residing in Maun while the suspect hailed from Marobela in the North East District. The suspect has already appeared before Maun magistrate for mention. Superintendent Badumetse appealed to men to respect the decision of women when they end relationships.
On other issues, Superintendent Badumetse decried the rampant theft of vehicle parts at Central Transport Organisation (CTO) noting that they received reports every two weeks. He said some stolen parts included gear boxes, mirrors, propeller shafts and centre bearing. He said the theft was worrisome as it affected service delivery.
He said government departments were crippled because their vehicles were stuck at CTO because there were no parts to maintain them. Superintendent Badumetse said the theft persisted, despite efforts to engage security personnel at the gates. He said no arrests had been made in connection with the cases. ENDS
