Thatayaone Keaikitse (24) of Molepolole commonly known in the music industry as Sthati Wa Nnete has released a six track kwaito album titled Kgang Yame.
In an interview with the young artiste recently, he said the album Kgang Yame released just early this year in January is his very first album, saying he managed to penetrate the music industry in 2015 only then releasing a single titled Lenyora.
Kgang Yame album, is a story of his life in the music industry. He said he has always loved music, saying even from a young age he sacrificed most of his time especially that he could have used it to excel at school to compose music. He stated that it is for this reason that he got poor results in his junior certificate, hence through the album he urges parents to be there for their children in their studies, supporting them all the way. Thatayaone said children need guidance, saying even if they show talent at a young age they should be guided as in what is more important over the other looking at the current situation.
He added that he failed to make the right decision since he knew that he was passionate about music he was always going to have a chance after finishing his studies to showcase his talent. He said he was composing songs most of the time while he was supposed to be studying and therefore gave less attention to his studies. He added that education is more important over everything else even in the music industry as at times one signs for music deals, further saying one has to be knowledgeable about a lot of things.
He noted that the album was produced by Lush Lyf Time Studios and Royal Dawgs Production in Molepolole.
Thatayaone further said he worked with one Radiphepheng and Thuska Gavers in recording the second track Morena Leba Kwano which is a gospel kwaito track. He noted that the track was all about appreciating the situations and challenges that people encounter on a daily basis.
Thatayaone also stated that the track, Trust No One, calls for people to be careful who they deal with, saying he was cheated out of his money by some local well established artistes who said they were going to sign him under their music label which never happened, and through the track he is merely advising people to not fall in those traps.
Some other tracks in the album include Lenyora, Modimo Nthusa and the title track Kgang Yame.
The budding artiste said the album though recently released is promising, saying he is planning to shoot a music video for the same album soon.
He implored Batswana to buy the local music saying at times some support international music over their own. He also pleaded with music lovers to help nurture local talent.
Thatayaone said he looks up to Vee and Franco in the music industry, saying the two men inspire him in every way.
He stated that though they are professional music artistes they have managed to diversify from music to pursue other business interests should they fail in music
Nevertheless he said that he funded the recording of the album from his own pocket as his family never believed that music could be a profession that could put food on the table. He said that he managed to do that with profits from selling BOT50 t-shirts last year. ENDS
