Art is not only about drawing and painting, but is inclusive of sound, colour, form, movement and other elements to do with beauty.
That is according to actor and drama coach, Kemiso Tlhalefang, who states that his passion for drama is driven by the need to raise awareness on societal issues.
Tlhalefang, a Tutume native aged 28, said he wanted to be involved in something meaningful that would touch the lives of people from different walks of life who ere going through difficulties in life, hence his involvement in drama.
He said he does this verbally and non-verbally and describes himself as a voice for the voiceless.
Having fallen in love with drama at an early age, Tlhalefang said it was his way of dealing with life experiences.
It was after being roped in by different drama groups that his potential was realised and his work caught the eye of many.
My efforts paid off last year when the group I was coaching named McConnell emerged second in the President’s Day Competitions in the drama category, Tlhalefang said.
An Accounting and Business Studies student at Tutume Brigade, he said he started work on his first film September last year titled An Eye for an Eye Leaves the World Blind, a story about the perils of revenge.
The story, he said, featured more than 10 characters and touched on issues like peer pressure, abortion, sugar daddies now known as blessers, drugs and crossing the boundaries of the law.
Tlhalefang said he was driven by self-belief and trusted himself to deliver a quality product that would have a lasting impact on the lives of Batswana.
Tlhalefang said he was determined to make it even in the midst of challenges, adding that the love for his work pushed him to wake up every day and face the world.
He applauded government for helping the youth use their talent to make a living. ENDS
