Pole bred Macebo Moyo who is also well known by the name Almac De Moy is amongst the leading upcoming artistes in North East District.
The 25-year-old started his disc jockey (DJ) career in 2012 while still at tertiary school.
He was active in both performing arts and fine arts, starting from pre-school to senior secondary school level and later developed a strong passion in performing arts.
He was one of the multi-talented and gifted student.
The public health officer also got a chance to be hired by Boitekanelo College as a temporary technical assistant based in Tutume after being awarded the overall best student at Boitekanelo College in 2013.
With his monthly salary, he stated that he managed to buy the necessary equipment and became the resident DJ at Tutume.
In an interview recently, Moyo stated that since 2012 while at tertiary school he used to play in different bars and this got him exposure and desire to explore his talent.
When Moyo’s contract with Boitekanelo College ended, he became a full time and was engaged in various events such as the Safe Male Circumcision Programme or Rola Kepese as a crowd puller and sometimes volunteered during events as one of his corporate social responsibility activities.
He added that though he had a great fan base in Tutume he decided to relocate to his home village to shine there.
Moyo further stated that when he first relocated to Pole it was frustrating since he was not well known and had to compete with other DJs in the village and their pricing was also different given that he charged looking at how skilled he was.
He added that he was working hard in order to also build a strong fan base in the North East District.
In addition, Moyo stated that he once played in line up with the likes of DJ Timmy, Gyvos, Mc Maswe, Tumza, Vee, and Ricky Lamar and also played internationally sharing a stage with Naak Music and Patricia Majalisa.
Between April and June 2016 he got another opportunity to play piano and keyboard on his set at club Lagos in Francistown, something he had long dreamt of.
Moyo further stated that with all his successes and dreams, he later applied for Youth Development Fund grant and within a short period of time he was funded with the amount of P100 000 and bought all the equipment that he needed.
He said he bought drums and explored more of his talents. Moyo of Ackadolla Entertainment also stated that his company is a two way street, adding that he does both entertainment and clothing labels.
He added that though disc jockey is his life and source of income, he also does graphic design in partnership with Exotic Empires Company in Tutume.
He further stated that he funded the Exotic Empires clothing label project with his salary and disc jockey profits and they intend to expand their creative designs and print to the southern part of Botswana since they only supplied villages in the north-eastern part of the country only.
He said with his art experience, acquired at primary school level he intends to go further and build a legacy for him and his family.
He said his dream is to build a gallery shop and also make use of his fine art skills.
Growing up, Moyo was an active young man who was passionate in art.
He said he also entered big art exhibitions and performed very well, adding that when he completed his general certificate of secondary education he did not want to further his studies since he discovered his passion and dream in art.
He also said that in 2010 he recorded a traditional music album but did not have a chance to release it due to the pressure from his parents as they did not support him in throwing away his education for something that they believed will not yield him any results.
He advised other youths especially those who are unemployed to stop blaming the government and start acting.
He encouraged them to go out there and hustle hard. “There is always a way of making a living,” he said. ENDS
