Thabo Magama also known as ‘T.S Dope’ Magama has released a new single titled, Who’z tripping which is a warm-up for his upcoming Extended Play (EP) entitled Game boy.
The 20 year old gained popularity in 2015 with his track Cruising Thru the City, a song which has so far not been officially released but available for download on youtube.
In an interview with BOPA, T.S Dope said Who’z trippin was basically a song that talked about two people who are caught up in a misunderstanding state, where one believes that the other is tripping and on the other hand the other feels the same way but actually there is no one anyone tripping between them hence Who’z trippin.
“Tripping is a slang word which mostly states expressions that someone is making a stupid mistake,” he said.
Amazingly, Who’z trippin is packed with content, its chaotic, rough style hip hop which through the track of music there is no unnecessary intermissions on it, but luckily there is nothing distracting to the content. His single is a definitive piece of 90s hip hop history.
The track has a potential to make major hit as it has already received airplays in several radio stations.
“This is my first radio single and with it I wanted to show lyricism and storytelling in my work,” he said. This is one of those tracks which are a lot more strong and well-put-together from the beginning to the end with no repetition.
The song is composed in hardcore hip hop beats normally used by MCs which exposes and carries more lyrics other than the beats. “These beats are generally characterised by anger, aggression, and confrontation.
They were pioneered by such artistes, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G, who are my inspiration,” he said.
T.S Dope street sensibility is reflected in most of his songs including his first single Gameboy which features Funk 'Melvin Monageng' Flex the Ninja 'Pearson Banda',who is a Malawian producer now based in Botswana.
With his full album which is soon to be released, he said, his fans must expect more from his EP as he shall be telling the stories and painting pictures in it.
“I am hoping to be recognised as one of the best,” he said.
T.S Dope said after releasing the full EP he is hopeful that he shall be recognised as one of the best. Her manager, Gorata Molatlhegi said her whole idea was to brand and instil the discipline that he can be able to penetrate national and international markets.
Currently she is managing six artistes, including Motswako artiste, Kabelo Kebonang, who trades as “Tswak B” and upcoming hiphop artiste, 'Percy', Mogogi Jax.BOPA
