24 Jan 2017

In an effort to diversify, some artists have added clothing lines to their businesses.

Dj Cheestos (22) is one of such artisits and he has started a clothing label.

He said a clothing label would help his fans get an identity, a move that would ultimately enhance sales of his music.

“Selling merchandise has diversified my sources of revenue,” he said.

His clothing label goes by the name Cheestos. He said the move to establish a clothing label was inspired by his colleague in the entertainment industry, Dj Shimza who has a clothing label and selling merchandise written his stage name.

Dj Cheestos said his clothing label was doing well in the market.

He generated most of his income through selling T-shirts and caps compared to selling CDs.

The artists born and bred Mochudi and whose real names are Eddyson Phillimon noted that his clothing line was an alternative source of generating income.

He said ‘music sales are not that much reliable as customers are reluctant to buy their music as they enjoy it freely from online social platform.

They download music from my social media pages for free and never buy CDs.’

The young artiste developed passion for music at a tender age. “I was always eager to learn how to play house music on the decks as a Deejay,” he said.

His debt into the music industry was the release of a single dubbed Be Free November 2016 featuring Rapture Roots, Cindy and Thabo.  ENDS
