24 Jan 2017
Maun police have embarked on a massive search of suspects who robbed a Bureau De-change and walked away with cash amounting to over P100 000.
According to senior superintendent Peter Gochela, the incident took place on Friday night and the suspects forced entry through the roof and blasted the two safes where the money was kept.
He said suspects had tampered with the CCVT cameras and the incident was reported by the employees when they reported for duty on Saturday.
He added that a similar incident was also reoprted two weeks back where another Bureau De-change was robbed and huge amounts of money stolen.
Senior superintendent Gochela said suspects, who were still at large, also blasted the safe and walked away with some money.
He said he suspected that the same culprits could have been the ones involved in the second incident which occurred over the weekend.
He indicated that the search for the stolen cash was ongoing and expressed hope that they would arrest suspects.
However, he encouraged the business community to bank their money on a daily basis to avoid such incidents.
He said it was also worrying that the companies which were robbed had hired security guards. BOPA
