Police investigate murder case

Police in Maun are investigating a case in which a 25-year-old woman of Botshabelo ward was found lying motionless with bruises all over her body on January 14.

Maun Police acting station commander, Assistant Superintendent Oarabile Hulela said in an interview that the incident was reported to the police at around 11am on Saturday.

He said the woman was then taken to Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital, where she was certified dead upon arrival.

The body is still in the hospital awaiting post-mortem.

Mr Hulela also said they had arrested the Zambian national of the same age in relation to the incident.

The suspect is said to be the diseased boyfriend.

Still in Maun, police are investigating a case in which a 43-year-old man from Boseja ward died while trapped under sand when the sandpit he was digging with the other two men at Sitatunga River bank collapsed on Friday.

Mr Hulela said the two men, who were able to escape, tried to rescue their colleague for at least one and half hour before calling the police for help.

The victim, he said, was then taken to Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital, where he was confirmed dead upon arrival. BOPA
