Court arraigns taxi driver robbery

A 30-year-old driver who resides at Gaborone West was arraigned before Molepolole Magistrate Rosemary Khuto on a single count of robbery.
Appearing for arraignment Julius Mochine also kown as Nyerere Jujuboy after being read the charge sheet as was requested by the state prosecutor sub inspector Moshe Karabo of Thamaga Police told the court that he understood the charge however saying he was not at the scene of the incident although saying some members of society ended up beating him on that day.
Briefing court on the development of the case, sub inspector Karabo said the other two suspects implicated in the same case were still at large hence requesting for the remand of the accused.
Meanwhile, particulars of the offence as recorded in the charge sheet indicate that the accused Julius Mochine and two others who were not before court on the December 21, 2016 at Newtown ward at Kumakwane in the Kweneng District acting jointly together in consent robbed Kebaabetswe Godirilwe a bag containing shop profits being P10 500 cash.
The accused together with the other two suspects immediately before and after such robbery are alleged to have used violence on the victim to overcome resistance.
Julius’s plea will be taken in his next appearance date on the January 12. ENDS
