This followed two separate incidents of murder and two suicides which occurred on December 27 at Matsaudi and Toteng. He noted that at Toteng, a 30 year old man was found hanging from the rafters of his house, while his girlfriend age 27 was found laying dead on his bed.
Senior Superintendent Gochela said they received a report from the man’s cousin who picked a bad smell and saw many flies from the deceased house and become suspicious.
He said they rushed to the scene and forced entry as the door was locked and found the duo motionless, noting that the woman had a deep wound on the left chick. Police suspected that the boyfriend could had murdered her using a sharp object and later committed suicide.
Senior Superintendent Gochela further stated that the duo were last seen on December 25 from an entertainment going to the house. It was reported that the woman who originated from Moeti ward in Maun visited her boyfriend who resided at Toteng village.
He said currently their bodies were at the local mortuary awaiting post-mortem, while investigations continued.
In Matsaudi village, Senior Superintendent Gochela said a middle aged man shot himself with a gun after his girlfriend told him that they should end their relationship.
He said the deceased sent a message to his girlfriend telling her that there was no reason to live without her. It was reported that the deceased took a gun and left his home.
Senior Superintendent Gochela said the deceased was found by police officers and some residents in the bush who were on his search as he was reported as a missing person.ENDS
