Two men appear for false pretences

Two men aged between 34 and 36 years recently appeared before Ghanzi senior magistrate charged with two counts of obtaining by false pretences, contrary to Section 308 of the Penal Code (Cap 08;01).
According to a press release from the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) their investigations revealed that the accused persons Boitumelo Tanyala and Daniel Mokgatlanyane, in the period: November 9-18, 2009 in Ghanzi with the intent to defraud, obtained the sum of P30 000 from Lambertus Vorster and Stefanus
Vorster by falsely representing that Mokgatlanyane was a land board official and would allocate the Vorster brothers farms as well as assist them get a borehole whereas in fact and in truth such presentation was incorrect and it was false.
The duo would appear in court for mention on January 19, 2017, pleas were reserved as the accused needed time to engage lawyers. Neo Moatlhodi of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) appeared for the state while the accused persons were not represented. ENDS
