Police investigate toddler's death

Police investigations are continuing regarding the death of a 22-month-old toddler whose body was found in a septic tank at his home in Nkoyaphiri, Mogoditshane on Monday (December 5) evening.
Senior Superintendent, Near Bagali said in an interview that the toddler was in the company of his grandparents and housekeeper during the day he went missing on December1.
He said after thorough search in the vicinity of the boy’s home by grandparents and neighbours, the matter was reported to the police who launched a search that lasted over the weekend until Monday evening when the baby’ s body’s was found.
He said upon retrieval of the toddler’s body, a post-mortem was conducted on Tuesday (December 6) and the body was buried same day.
Senior Supt Bagali appealed to the community to desist from speculating the circumstances that led to the death of the toddler. He also urged the public to allow police to finish their investigations.
He said three suspects appeared before Broadhurst Magistrate Court in Gaborone for the unruly behaviour they displayed during the police investigations at Nkoyaphiri. ENDS
