Youthful author launches second book

06 Dec 2016

The Maun-based youthful author, Tumo Kenosi has been described as a hero and a role model, who is passionate about bringing a positive impact in the lives of the community.

Different speakers praised him during the launch of his second book entitled Steps of Life, which is a play of young people with a vision to take a step in life by partnering with the government and making a positive change amongst the youth.

They said the author, who is also a motivational speaker has a big heart as his book carried a strong message, which educates young people to live dignified lives.

His book Steps of Life is preceded by the Setswana Book Monate ga o Fele, which was published last year and was well received.

One of the speakers, James Evans who is also the chairperson of Maun Business Botswana Council, said Kenosi was a man of many talents noting that he was also a football player, hip hop artist, peer educator and author just to mention a few.

He said the young man was passionate about writing as he wanted to share knowledge and information with the society in general adding that all his books were educative and informative.

He said his second book message was on point looking at the challenges faced by children especially teenagers and stated that the book encourages children to live positively and grow into responsible citizens.

A young entrepreneur and author, Seloilwe Seloilwe described Kenosi as a workaholic who was results oriented. He said Kenosi never gives up until he succeeded in whatever he wanted to do.

He also pointed out that he was one of the youthful leaders who made Ngamiland District proud through his sterling work and urged him to continue with the good work.

However, Seloilwe decried lack of support from the public towards youth projects noting that most young people were failing to live their dreams because of lack of support structure.

He further revealed that most of them had brilliant business ideas, which could be harnessed to benefit them.

“As young people, we need more support to excel and grow. We appreciate government’s efforts to develop and empower us but we still lack support from the community at large,” he added.

The assistant district AIDS coordinator, Nametso Sebitla said it was pleasing to see young people augmenting government efforts to address challenges faced by the society.

She said Kenosi’s book was a legacy that would benefit the new generation noting that “It is a fortune, a heritage for the future young generation and all you remember you with the good books.”

Sebitla said the book carried a bigger message, which could make a big difference in the lives of young people.

For his part, Kenosi promised to do more in future. He said his second book carries a message which targets school going children as it depicts that life does not revolve around money, relationships and luxurious things.

“I wanted the youth to think outside the box, be patient and focus on their studies rather than indulging in things which could ruin their future.

I want them to wait for the right time,” he added.

Kenosi explained that he had realised that most young people live a reckless life and act very late adding that the book carries a motivational message which would guide them to be responsible citizens.

The book also touches on national issues such as HIV/AIDS. ENDS
