President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has promised to follow up respective ministries and give feedback on village developmental challenges raised during his engagement with Lentsweletau residents.
Speaking at Lentsweletau Kgotla on Saturday (December 3) during a lunch with the elderly, he also said he had noted appeal to him to engage residents in a Kgotla meeting on development matters. He also took a moment to treat children to sweet treats.
President Khama also donated blankets for destitute persons, solar lamps for use by those not connected to the national electricity grid, chairs for the Kgotla meetings, Bibles, football kit and balls for youth teams in the constituency.
In closing remarks, area MP who is also the Minister of Trade and Investment Mr Vincent Seretse implored residents to continue with the unity they displayed during BOT50 celebrations.
He said Batswana had entrenched democratic ideals into their cultural norms and values and this had made them to always consult and engage each other, a process they must always cherish.
Earlier in his welcome remarks Lentsweletau’s Kgosi Morulaganyi Makgasane pleaded with the President to help with stalled development projects in the village, citing the tarring of Molepolole/Lentsweletau access road which they had for many years called for to reduce the 80km they are forced to travel instead of 37km of the access road.
Kgosi Makgasane said they appreciated the financial constraints facing government, adding however that their wish was to see their Kgotla shelter construction completed and the village clinic upgraded. ENDS
