Mafikizolo to close off Mascom sessions
15 Nov 2016
Botswanacraft will be rocking to the sounds of none other than South African powerhouse Mafikizolo and our very own Thabang Garogwe of Ke a Gana fame as the Mascom Live Sessions looks to close the year on a high note.
The multi-award winning Mafikizolo have not graced Botswana shores this year and the South African duo, Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Nciza will surely be sending off scores of their fans on an early festive frenzy as they are expected to sample some of their new offerings, notably Kucheza.
Since its release in late October, the single has performed no less than any other Mafikizolo song, with it topping the charts in that country and one cannot wait for the full offering of their album next year if Kucheza is anything to go by.
Mafikizolo is celebrating 20 years in the industry and their upcoming album will feature 20 tracks to commemorate that milestone as well as a special feature for their third member, Tebogo Madingoane who was gunned down in 2004, according to some South African media reports.
Even though they have been in the industry for two decades, Kgosinkwe and Nciza keep on reinventing themselves, and have so far managed to stay relevant throughout the continent.
Speaking in an interview, event organiser Oliver Groth said Batswana should expect an enthralling performance from Mafikizolo and Thabang.
He indicated that Mafikizolo have proved their intent to remain relevant, retain their fan base and perhaps even win a new one.
“They have collaborated with the likes of Uhuru, Diamond Platinumz and Davido. Mafikizolo have sold several million units in South Africa alone and have a closet of trophies to match their hype and they recently returned from a US and Canada tour,” he said.
Thabang Garogwe of Ke a gana fame will also perform at the event and even though he has not released a new album recently, he expected to woe music fans with new music as he recently performed at the Hamptons Jazz Festival.
As Mafikizolo is set to celebrate their 20 years of slugging it out in the music industry, fans cannot be faulted for expecting songs such as Emlanjeni, Ndihambanawe and Lotto when they take to the Botswanacraft stage; and these are songs that won them affections across Southern Africa.
Having recently hosted Oliver Mtukudzi, Botswanacraft in conjunction with Mascom Wireless Botswana continues to bring the best to Botswana.
Oliver indicated that tickets go for P250 and they are already on sale at Botswanacraft.
“We always sell limited tickets and I want to urge those that are fans of Mafikizolo and Thabang to purchase them as soon as possible,” he said, further adding that as Botswanacraft they also subscribe to responsible partying.
“If you know you will be engaging in alcoholic beverages, please have someone else who is sober to drive you and if you cannot find a sober a driver, cabs are always a safer option,” he cautioned people. BOPA
