Police in Letlhakeng are holding a 42-year-old man of Molepolole in connection with the murder of his girlfriend of over 10 years.

“It appears the two lovers went drinking all day since morning, and when they returned home in the evening they lost their way in the darkness and an argument ensured concerning who was right as they suggested different paths,” he said.

Ass Supt Katse said in the wake of the argument, the man is alleged to have lost his temper and used a large stick to beat the woman and left her unconscious on the spot. The matter was reported by the woman’s grandmother the following morning.

Assistant Superintendent Katse said they then rushed to the scene of the incident and found the woman still lying there and rushed her to Letlhakeng clinic where she was certified dead on arrival. He said the suspect was also arrested at the scene.

He said the two had five children together. The deceased, aged 33 was from Ditshegwane while the man, who hails from Molepolole was a subsistence farmer at Sebotswane lands.
