Man to serve 5 years for stealing goat

Palapye Customary Court recently sentenced Olaotswe Ramolotong to five years imprisonment for stealing a goat.

The 24-year-old man of Thomadithotse ward in Palapye was found guilty on one account of stealing a goat belonging to Ms Felicia Goya at Masuakoloi lands.

During the trial, Ramolotong pleaded guilty to the offence, saying he stole the goat after seeing it roaming around.

Giving evidence before the court, Ditshotlo Teseletso who also herded the stock said the goat resembled the missing goat that was left in his care.

He said colour of the goat and its brand matched those of the missing goat. He said after the goat went missing he searched for it but was nowhere to be found.

He said he later found it in possession of the accused and reported the matter to the police.

Constable Bakani of Palapye Police led the prosecution whilst Kgosi Masego Olebile presided.

Kgosi Olebile said the evidence brought before court showed that the accused had a motive and intent to commit crime.

He said the evidence proved that indeed the goat belonged to Felicia Goya. ENDS
