Mahalapye police have arrested two young men in connection with bar breaking and theft of goods amounting to P4 392.
In an interview with BOPA, officer in charge CID assistant superintendent Langanani Mudongo said the two aged 24 and 28 are suspected to have broken into a bar at Dilaene ward in Mahalapye on Monday.
He said they were arrested on Tuesday at Dilaene ward after a tip off from security and with the help of ward clusters.
Assistant Supt Mudongo said the duo is suspected to have stolen beers and cigarettes.
He said if found guilty they could be given lashes or sentenced to not more than 10 years in prison.
For his part, Dilaene ward Kgosi Olefile Sam said he was very disappointed because theft and break-ins have gone up in his ward, saying the offence is mostly committed by the youth.
He said what is worrisome is that these youths do not attend kgotla meetings, but rather engage in doing bad things.
He urged the youth to take part in fighting crime rather than taking part in it. ENDS
