Three children perish

02 Nov 2016

Kutlwano police are investigating a case in which three children died in Francistown on Friday.

Superintendent Neo Serumola said in an interview that investigations ensued after receiving a report from Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) about death of  the trio aged four and two years.

He said according to the information from the parents, a boy and a girl both aged four years from the same family and a neighbour's boy aged two years were found unconscious in a parked vehicle in the neighbourhood.

Supt Serumola said the parents stated that the children were seen playing together but it was later realised that they were missing. In their search for the missing children, he said, parents found them in the vehicle, which was in the other yard.

He said the families rushed children to the hospital where they were confirmed dead and the police were notified.

Supt Serumola said one child was buried over the weekend but the other two were still awaiting postmortem to determine the cause of their death.

He appealed to the parents to take proper care of children and always make sure they were visible at all times. ENDS
