Police investigate four for stock theft

Four men of Maun are helping police with investigations for theft of cattle, but one suspect is still on the run.
The four aged between 24 and 35 were nabbed by Maun police at Disaneng ward in Maun on Friday, following a police tip off, Maun station commander Superintendent Motlhaba Ramabya said.
Supt Ramabya said the police found eight heads of dead cattle, hides and cow dung at the scene.
Five of the heads were fresh while three were old and were all found in a drainage system.
He said three of the suspects were arrested at the scene, one fled the scene, while the other who is the yard owner aged 24 years handed himself to the police.
Supt Ramabya said the four were in custody helping the police with investigations and would be arraigned before Maun Magistrate Court.
The case brought stock cases to about 59 to date in 2016.
Still in Maun, police are investigation the murder of a 29-year-old man of Mochaba settlement who was stabbed with a sharp object.
Supt Ramabya said the deceased and his peers were in a meeting before a misunderstanding ensued.
He, however, said the suspect was still at large while police investigations continued.
Furthermore, the police were investigating an assault occasioning bodily harm incident in which a 20-year-old man of Matlapana was stabbed with a sharp object on his knee.
The incident happened near Shorobe on October 28 and a 31-year-old man was helping the police with investigations.
Supt Ramabya said the victim said there was no argument prior to the suspect stabbing him and was helped by a vehicle passing by which took him to the Maun police. ENDS
