Adopt- A School has opened a window of opportunity for all stakeholders to participate fully in the affairs of schools.

Speaking during Madiba Class of ’93 charity dinner the Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Basic Education Mr Moiseraele Goya commended and welcomed Madiba Class of ’93 for having joined the Adopt a School family.

He said the cost of educating a nation must not be allowed to be the sole responsibility of government, but of all stakeholders.

He said the government had done a lot over the years to provide free education to all eligible learners.

He noted that it was refreshing that, out of their own volition, without being pushed by government, Batswana now realised the value of making a contribution towards the education of their children.

However, he said modest this contribution might be, it was encouraging as it was consistent with tried and tested principle of self-reliance.

Mr Goya said the fundraising charity event served as a compliment to government’s effort of providing access to education and quality education.

He said as the Ministry of Basic Education, “we warmly welcome the support that volunteers like class of ’93 are rendering to the schools, especially by adopting Madiba Senior School with the aim to assist the school with funding and technical assistance in order to turn the school into an institution of academic and sporting excellence.”

For his part, Madiba Class of ’93 Association vice chairperson Mr Kgosietsile Ngakaagae said their association was a non –profit making organisation registered in 2015.

Mr Ngakaagae said its membership comprises former Madiba Secondary School students who completed their Form 5 in 1993.

He said their objective amongst others was to engage in the development of education in the country, participate in community development with primary focus on the greater Mahalapye area. ENDS
