The Central District Council has auctioned a total of 538 matimela animals during the 2014/2015 financial year.
Responding to a question during Ntlo Ya Dikgosi session on Monday (October 11), Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said the animals consisted of cattle, goats, sheep and donkeys.
Ms Tshireletso stated that P987 490 was acquired from the auction.
She was responding to Kgosi Kgomotso Boiditswe of Serowe region who had asked the minister to update the House on the number of matimela auctioned in the Central District.
Kgosi Boiditswwe had also wanted to know how much was acquired from the auction.
Meanwhile, Ms Tshireletso informed the House that the office for Vaalhoek customary court has been proposed by Kgalagadi District for inclusion in NDP11.
She informed them that if funds permit, the office will be constructed during the plan period.
She said while her ministry appreciates the need for a vehicle at Vaalhoek customary court, priority currently is on replacement of boarded vehicles and Vaalhoek is serviced by Bokspits which is three kilometres away.
Kgosi David Toto III of Kgalagardi South wanted to know when offices for the Vaalhoek customary court will be constructed as well as provision of accommodation for the Tribal Administration Department staff and official vehicle. ENDS
