Two-year-old dies in road accident

Tonota police are investigating a road accident in which a two-year old child died.

The accident occurred along A1 Road at the Engen filling station junction in Tonota on Friday. Superintendent Kenanao Badumetse said in an interview that a bus collided with a Toyota Runx around 5:55pm.

He said the Runx had three people including the 31-year old female driver, the deceased and a seven-year old child.

Supt Badumetse said the woman was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital. The seven-year-old child was also admitted with minor injuries.

He said the bus had 75 passengers, but only four were injured. Three were treated and discharged  while one was dmitted.

Meanwhile, the police are also investigating a murder incident that occurred in Monarch location.

Supt Lebalang Maniki said the 30-year-old dead man resided in Selebi Phikwe, but originated from Mahalapye. He said the victim was attending a funeral of his friend's mother and was allegedly stabbed with a sharp instrument.

Supt Maniki said they had arrested a 19-year-old man to assist them with the investigations,adding that he would appear in court soon. ENDS
