Takatokwane police are investigating a case in which a 77-year old man of Salajwe committed suicide at Maganela cattle-post near Salajwe.
Speaking in an interview, Takatokwane station commander, Superintendent Ocean Maraganyane said on Sunday, the deceased left Salajwe to Dingabi lands, where he called one of his relatives informing him of his decision to take his own life since the relative failed to help him solve personal problems that he long informed them about.
“The deceased also threated to commit suicide at the relative’s cattle-post, but the relative tried to persuade him to abandon his mission, but without success,” he said.
Supt Maraganyane said the relative then went to the deceased’s house where he failed to locate him, upon which he tracked him to the cattle-post where he found him hanging from the rafters of the hut.
He said even though investigations were still on-going, they did not suspect any foul play. He however, said the relative, who was assisting them in their investigations was still not forthcoming concerning what problems the deceased might have referred to. ENDS
