A 52-year-old retired soldier from Mapoka in the North East District is helping police in their investigations following the death of a 48-year-old woman in Molepolole.

The deceased was mother to the suspect’s 26-year-old girlfriend

Molepolole station commander, Superintendent Charles Mbengwa said the alleged murderer was arrested in Mapoka over the weekend after the Friday incident at Lesetlheng ward in Molepolole.

Mr Mbengwa said the deceased, who was a teacher at Kgomotso English Medium Primary School in Molepolole, allegedly met her fate while sleeping at her home in the wee hours of Friday.

The deceased, he said, was found with multiple injuries suspected to have been inflicted on her by a sharp instrument.

The incident, according to the deceased’s sister, Ms Montlenyane Taupedi,  the woman was allegedly murdered in front of her five-year old grandson.

Ms Taupedi said the man broke into the girlfriend’s bedroom where she (girlfriend) managed to escape and left the mother with the child who witnessed the horrific incident.

The deceased allegedly did not approve her daughter’s relationship with the retired soldier. ENDS
