Marijuana use worries police
15 Aug 2016
Senior Superintendent Kevin Mookodi of Botswana Police Service in Kweneng has raised a concern regarding the growing use of drugs especially marijuana in Molepolole.
In an interview recently, Senior Supt Mookodi said a 23-year-old man was recently arrested for being in possession of marijuana by Gamodubu-police road block driving a military green range rover.
He said the drug was pocketed in 16 rolls, about a tennis ball size each, estimated to be weighing nine kilograms altogether. The drug was at a laboratory for testing and weighing.
Meanwhile, Supt Mookodi said the man had already appeared before Molepolole Magistrate Court but was released on bail.
However, Supt Mookodi said if the drug weighed above 60 kilograms the man could be sentenced between one and half years and or five years imprisonment.
He said marijuana seemed to be rapidly spreading in Molepolole, adding that they even arrested students who used the drug, hence pleading with parents to give them tip offs whenever they came across people selling marijuana. ENDS
