Seven in hospital following bus truck accident

Seven passengers have been admitted in two hospitals after a bus they were travelling in was hit by a heavy duty truck near Taung flyover in Gaborone this morning (July 20) .
District traffic officer at Broadhurst Police Station, Superintendent Meshack Kulenyane, said seven passengers from the Nissan Civilian bus, which plies Gaborone/Rasesa route, sustained serious injuries. Five were hospitalised at Bokamoso Private Hospital while two were admitted at Gaborone Private Hospital.
Superintendent Kulenyane said nine passengers were treated and discharged. The bus was heading for Rasesa when the UD7 Nissan truck rammed into it from the FurnMart warehouse direction. The truck's 37-year-old driver is in police custody assisting police with investigations.
Superintendent Kulenyane appealed to motorists to drive with caution and obey traffic signs to avoid unnecessary accidents. ENDS
