Sesinyi dreams of academy

My Star programme has helped to boost Botswana’s economy by unearthing and developing raw talent.
The managing director of the television show, Keabetswe Sesinyi, popularly known as Master D, said this in a side interview during the Best of the Best Top Five elimination in Tonota on Saturday.
Sesinyi said the show has produced a lot of music ambassadors who represented the country internationally such as Amantle and Kennedy, who were pursuing their music careers in South Africa.
“Coming to Tonota is a way of us giving back to the communities that have continued to support us over the years by taking the show to them,” he said.
He said their dream was to have an academy as a way of diversifying the country’s economy away from the well-known economic sectors.
“The show has employed 12 people, mostly youth and women as a way of boosting the creative sector, which is still untapped but vital in the growth of the economy,” said Master D.
Meanwhile, Tonota residents were happy to see their favourite singers on stage and showed their support by dropping notes of money on the stage for the contestants to collect as a token of appreciation for their talent.
After being eliminated from top six, Tshephang Mogale from Serowe pleaded with the supporters to embrace talent as contenders were only paving way for next generations.
The grand finale is scheduled for July 8 at Boipuso Hall in Gaborone and tickets will cost P500.
Before the show started, My Star observed a moment of siklence in remembrance of their counter parts from Just Gospel TV show who lost their lives recently in a tragic car accident. ENDS
