Kgosi Puso weds in August

Widespread cheers, clapping of hands, ululations and poetry summarised the jubilant mood at Tlokweng kgotla on May 21.

Batlokwa were welcoming news that their paramount chief and Ntlo ya Dikgosi chairman, Kgosi Puso will wed on August 20 and 27.

Deputy chief, Kgosi Spokes Gaborone, said wedding negotiations for the wedding were at an advantaged stage and the celebrations will be in Barolong area in the Southern District and Tlokweng.

“Mogolole a re o lo bonetse mmaalona,” said Batlokwa deputy chief to scores of the residents who had thronged the kgotla meeting.

He said Batlokwa Culture Day celebrations would  celebrate Kgosi Puso’s wedding hence there would be no usual cultural day celebrations.

Therefore, he called on the tribe to come up with ideas on a success.

Kgosi Gaborone said none of the existing tribesman had facilitated a chief’s wedding hence every idea and contribution would be valuable.

He added that Kgosi Puso was a revered person hence they were expecting huge attendance from well-wishers and government officials.

Another royal, Kgosi Moeti Gaborone said the royal house had already played its part in kick starting the wedding process and the rest was left for the tribe to come on board.

He emphasised that Kgosi Puso’s wedding needed involvement of the entire tribesmen.

During comments, Batlokwa expressed their gratitude towards announcement of their kgosi’s wedding.

One resident, Ms Shirley Segokgo said the wedding would add more value to the royal house as well as motivate young generation to marry.

Ms Mmapula Matlapeng said there was need for Batlokwa to organise themselves and have a hand in kgosi’s wedding.

Another speaker, Mr Elijah Katse, who is the chairperson of Batlokwa Development Trust, encouraged fellow tribesmen to put forward whatever they deemed possible to make the wedding memorable and successful. ENDS
