Moarabi Mushimehi known to his fans as Testify Da Preacher Bowy of Motsotsonyana fame has dropped a single dubbed Can I Testify. Born and bred at Lotlhakane East in Southern District, the energetic singer said in an interview that he was passionate about Hip Hop and RnB gospel music.
He started his music career during his school days at Maraka JSS. He said being a member of the Nazarene church’s praise and worship team exposed his talent because he used to sing in revivals and talent shows until 2010 when he went to the university.
Testify signed a three-year contract with World of Music Studios that helped him record his first album Testimony chapter 1 that featured the hit song Motsotsonyana.
He said I Can Testify single, which was recorded and mastered at World of Music Studios under the production of James Bessa, Mbaki Nlyeya and Victor Lumo, would feature in his new album Testimony chapter 2 to be released in September.
Testify said even though hip hop and RnB music was associated with a lot of negativities such as drugs, alcohol, women and money, thugs and gangsters it was people still gave it attention, hence taking advantage of that to spread the gospel with such genre and to testify about what he went through that could be similar to what the youth were facing.
He said he was using the genre to show those who went through trials that God could change them through his testimonies.
He noted that he was not yet satisfied with the airplay from radio stations but he appreciated some of the radio programmes such as RB2 Gospel 103, The Air Rated with Nametso and Yarona fm Inspirational grooves.
He wrote lyrics for I Can Testify while the beat was produced by Big Monty of Sound Card Studios, and vocals were recorded at Drumsonic Studios in Molepolole by Rage/Legacy.
He said the sales for the single and his past album were satisfactory, adding that the coming of COSBOTS had contributed a lot to getting the royalties.
He further said VIB Mobile had been loyal to the downloads since he was on the top three of the downloads royalties after VEE took spot number one followed by Lezibo with second position and he came in third position.
Apart from music Testify is an employee of Stanchart and he founded Pulpit Groovers Entertainment Company.
He does voice over freelancing for radio adverts and he produces jingles as well as GDTB Judge which is an annual event of Youth from Gaborone Assemblies of God.
Testify aspired to be an ambassador to life changing organisations as well as working closely with churches with initiatives to change the lives of many.
He also planned to work with Scripture Union since it has a lot of impact in students’ lives.
His biggest dream was to have a television programme or have a radio show which will not only be about music but an inspirational show.
He encouraged upcoming stars to be vigilant, smart and professional, adding that students should work hard, while employees should give attention to their work and strive to meet the required standard of what is expected from them. ENDS
