Selaolo mental assessment August
16 May 2016
The mental evaluation of murder accused, Gaofenngwe Selaolo, has been billed for August 11.
Briefing Broadhurst Magistrate Court on behalf of the substantive prosecutor, Inspector Onkemetse Gaboutlwelwe of Broadhurst Police Station said Selaolo would be taken to S’brana Psychiatric Hospital in Lobatse for mental assessment, adding that was the most nearer date the facility could allocate.
Two weeks ago Magistrate Nthabiseng Merafhe-Tladi ordered Princess Marina Hospital to conduct such mental assessment at least by end of June.
This was after Sub Inspector Onkemetse Modukanele informed the court that the hospital had scheduled Selaolo’s psychiatric assessment to be conducted in November this year, a date she deemed too far.
Sub Inspector Modukanele had reasoned that investigations into the murder of 11-year-old Clifford Mochocho, who was stepson of the accused, were almost complete and therefore it would be awkward to stretch the psychiatric assessment.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Merafhe-Tladi extended remand warrant for Selaolo to May 26 at the request of the prosecution.
The accused was arrested on March 13 after police were informed that she was the last one seen with Clifford whose remains were exhumed on April 12 near a hill in Mankgodi.
He had reportedly disappeared on March 1 after he failed to come back from Bosele Primary School where he was a pupil. ENDS
