Former MP advises choir to self sustain

10 May 2016

Barapedi ba Morena Church Choir has been advised to record and sell their music as such can help in the running expenses of the church.  The advice came from former Member of Parliament for Tonota South  Pono Moatlhodi during the choir’s award ceremony held at Bethlehem City of Christ Church in Zion (BCCCZ) in Serowe on May 7.

Barapedi Ba Morena Choir was crowned champions in the clap and tap category during the national music competitions held in Tonota during the Easter holidays.

The former MP in his remarks urged the choir to use their music to win souls for Christ as the music is not appealing to Christians only but to non-Christians too.

The guest speaker encouraged the choir to use their music as an effective wheel to reach the masses. He said choirs were important part of any church as they spread love and promote unity in God’s house.

The guest speaker said music is part of evangelism and said it can help some of the listeners to repent.

The former MP said apart from using it as a wheel to win souls they should ensure that they produce recordable music such as any other artistes and generate revenue.

He said proceeds from such music can be used in the development of the church. Moatlhodi said music is an integral part of Batswana as it is used during happy and sad times.

BCCCZ Serowe, leader Reverend Baitsile Magodi said the choir’s sterling performance left him no choice but to carry out the session as a token of appreciation.

He said Barapedi Ba Morena has continuously performed impressively in the competitions, something that deserves to be rewarded.

Reverend Magodi said it is humbling to see aged and family people sparing their time for the choir.

He said the choir also contributes immensely to the church’s growth as it engages both the youth and old, adding such is essential for the church’s wellbeing. ENDS
