Boteti to celebrate culture

Some 19 villages in Boteti Sub-district will come together in one accord and celebrate their culture on May 27.

The event dubbed Boteti Cultural Day is scheduled for Tjurube Pan, the nature rich environment in the Makgadikgadi, situated along Orapa/ Mokobaxane road. 

The chairperson of the event, Leteng Segaisi promised Batswana a day filled with culture and rhythm.

He said attendants will enjoy a cultural night on May 27, which will be a distinctive  Setswana recreation with the attendants seated around the fire and elders telling tales and stories in their different languages.

According to Segaisi, Boteti is made of 19 villages with different cultures but with the same background and that the event will help to bring together these cultures to share and learn more about each other.

 

Baherero, Bakhurutshe, Bateti, Bakalaka and the culturally rich Basarwa tribes will be given the platform to share their history and display their distinctive survival skills such as making fire.

The two days event will be held under the theme; Promoting and Preserving Culture, will comprise of culture night on  May 27 and the cultural day will follow on May 28.

Segaisi said during the culture night, those willing to spend the night at the pans will be provided with a camping sport. ENDS
