DJ Lady-K vies for award

Gaborone- based Disc Jockey, Kaone Menyatswe popularly known as DJ Lady has been nominated for the category of the South African Upcoming Female DJ of the Year award.
The awards are billed for South Africa on May 7 at Centinary City Hall in Krugersdorp, Johannesburg.
DJ Lady-K who will leave for South Africa on May 4 was born in Tlokweng but spent most of her childhood years in South Africa and got introduced to music in Johannesburg while doing her matric year.
The young female DJ returned to Botswana in 2007 as a dance choreographer at African Child Dance School in Gaborone.
She credited herself as the first female DJ in Botswana and noted that her first appearance in the media was on the then Coca Cola Flava Dome which is now Orange Flava Dome on Botswana Television on new year’s eve of December 2010.
She said since her big break on national television, she became talk of the town as the first female DJ to appear on the show. “I then became a regular face on Orange Flava Dome for the first three months of 2011 appearing every Friday on the entertainment show.” Ends
