As the country gears towards 50 years of independence, Tsabong will next week be invaded by the Orange Togetherness celebrations, which have already been to places such as Francistown and Maun.

Speaking in an interview, public relations officer of Orange Togetherness celebrations, Benah Kobetwe indicated that they have partnered with Orange Botswana hence the name Orange Togetherness celebrations (#OTC).

“Togetherness celebrations is a youthful registered company and we saw it fit to partner with Orange Botswana so as to have a build-up of celebrations to Botswana’s 50 years of independence,” she said, adding that they were in Maun during the Easter holidays and Francistown in February.

She indicated that places such as Palapye, Ghanzi, Selibe-Phikwe, Jwaneng, Kasane, Kanye and Gaborone were yet to be visited.

Benah also said the main event of #OTC would be held in Gaborone, a week before the BOTS50 countrywide main event.

She further said all the #OTC events in all the different places would have one international artist supported by artists of the place where the #OTC event would be held.

“For Tsabong we would have Dr Malinga and artists in and around Tsabong would also get the chance to perform,” she said, also adding that artists such as DJ Sly, DJ Gouveia and Vee among others would also be there.

She said the last event of #OTC would be in Tonota and would be headlined by the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Thapelo Olopeng.

“Tickets for the show at Tsabong go for P50 and are available at Orange stores and also next week we would have a stall in front of Choppies in Tsabong selling tickets,” she said.

For her part, the public relations officer at Orange Botswana, Carol Kgafela said the opportunity presented by the Togetherness celebrations not something to miss out on.

“The fact that this is a company owned by young people was not something we would miss out on,” she said, adding that #OTC also affords upcoming artists a platform to showcase their music.

“Orange Botswana has put a little over P1 million into this project and we hope to play our part in the development and promotion of local artists,” she said.

“The reason for such a hefty investment is that we at Orange Botswana do not compromise on quality of sound, stage and everything else that goes into hosting a successful celebration tour,” she added.

Carol said the #OTC was a welcome initiative that helps different artists.

“Botswana has many artists of different genres and they need promoting,” she said. ENDS
