Police in Tonota are investigating the death of a 47 year-old man of Mmashoro, who was killed by cattle in Bonwaphou cattle post near Mabesekwa recently.

Station commander, Superintendent Kenanao Badumetse said in an interview that the deceased was killed after he had pumped water from a borehole into a container, which he left by the gate inside the kraal and continued with his duties.

“When releasing the cattle from the kraal, they saw the container and panicked and one cow knocked him down accidentally resulting in others stumping all over him,” said Supt Badumetse.

He said the victim was taken to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) where he passed away due to difficulty in breathing.

Still in Tonota, the police were investigating the unlawful possession of a substance suspected to be dagga by a Shashe River Form 5 student of Borotsi ward in Tonota.

Supt Badumetse said the 17-year-old boy was caught with 25 small plastic wrappings containing a greenish plant material suspected to be dagga weighing 80 grams.

“He is believed to have been selling to other students at school and at home,” he noted.

In a similar incident, a 43 year-old woman of Semotswane was caught with 17 plastics of the same product. ENDS
