Man found dead at Mabuo

 A man was found dead at Mabuo cattle post in the Central District and suspicions are that he was killed by an elephant.

Speaking in an interview, acting Serowe police station commander, Mr Molefe Molefe said they were alerted of the incident on Saturday 23.

He said they found elephant prints next to the deceased. 

Mr Molefe explained that the deceased, who was working as a herdboy at Mabuo, hailed from Malatswai.

The acting station commander said together the department of wildlife they searched for the elephants, but they could not find them that same day. 

While still in the search on Sunday, he said they received a call again from the residents of Moiyabana, which is a few kilometres from Mabuo claiming to have seen four elephants.

However, Mr Molefe explained that they had not yet found any of the elephants. 

He said they were still investigating a.

He, however, said elephants were not common in the Central District, therefore he urged the residents, particularly the people of Mabuo and Moiyabana to avoid roaming around late at night.

Mr Molefe said elephants camouflage with black hence making it difficult for them to be identified at night.

“If elephants are caught off guard, they panic and become more dangerous so it is wise to remain in doors at night” Mr Molefe said.

He further advised residents never to walk alone at night. ENDS
