Miss Botswana preaches mindset change
25 Apr 2016
Miss Botswana 2015, Seneo Mabengano has urged Tsabong youth to discover their talents and work on them, as that will help them to be better individuals in the future as well as keep them away from the streets.
Addressing a kgotla meeting recently, on the topic ‘Talent Plus’ Mabengano adviced the youth that it was important to dream big, have clear goals and work on realization of their dreams.
She said as people attracted what they thought, they should strive to bounce back whenever they failed or find themselves in life threatening situations like poverty.
She said everyone is unique and has unique qualities that they should focus on, ‘magnify your strengths, and all your weaknesses will vanish.’
Ms Botswana also advised that with everything that one believes in, they should add more knowledge to it and that is reading and researching more about all areas of interest.
She said youth have to invest more of their time in what they like and passionate about. “ Every individual must stay true to what they believe in, they should live to explore who they really are and with that at play you will find it very easy to overcome all the negativity around you,” said Mabengano.
Miss Botswana advised the youth that talent alone was not enough hence it needed to be cultivated with knowledge. She went on to point out wise pointers that led to self discovery as passion, self belief, initiative, focus perseverance, character and practice.
She also said it was never too late to change one’s life to the better as most things that people doubt could turn into a desire.
She gave out an example that Rome was not built in a day and that the same applies to discovering oneself. She said there was no need beating oneself up when things did not work as planned.
Mabengano said her main aim was to empower the youth on their different capacities as well as help them towards the betterment of their lives.
“Negative things around you, are just in your mind, and you just need to change your mind set then your weakness will fade away,” she said.
Miss Botswana concluded thus “if you believe in your dreams, you will go somewhere in life, what is needed is one to be an uncommon dreamer.” ENDS
