24 Apr 2016

Tutume Police Station Traffic Officer,Superintendent Milidzani Mbayi says a traffic accident involving three vehicles took place last week along the Tutume-Sebina road.

Speaking in an interview, Supt Mbayi said the first two vehicles, a private car and a bakkie collided head on while the third vehicle hit  the private car from the back.

He said the private car driver was admitted at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) in a stable condition while other drivers were treated for minor injuries and discharged the same day.

“We are still conducting investigations to find out the cause of the accident, as we are still waiting to take a statement from the driver who is still hospitalised,” said Supt Mbayi.

He said it was the third accident they had recorded in the past two weeks, and urged drivers to obey road signs in order to avoid road accidents as most of them were caused by negligence of road signs.

Supt Mbayi further said that people should be aware that road accidents do not only affect those who were involved in the accident because some of the victims of such accidents may be breadwinners of their families. ENDS
