With the build up to Botswana’s celebration of 50 years of independence getting intense with every passing month, SAUTI Arts and Performance Management is set to host an evening of poetry titled: The people are talking featuring leading Batswana poets at Maitisong.
The show, which is the second in a series of poetry evenings, will feature Leshie Lovesong, Dredd X, Mandisa Mabuthoe, Gomolemo Motsamai, Idle and Spoken, Thato Chuma, Kaona Mahuma, TJ Dema and Moroka Moreri.
“Some of the musicians who will also grace our event are Samantha Mogwe, Kefilwe ‘Princess’ Radovic and Bundulama,” said TJ, arts administrator for SAUTI Arts.
She further indicated that the majority of poets as well as all the musicians would be supported by a band put together by musical director, Lamech Nwako and that rehearsals are currently ongoing.
“Our MC for the night will be none other than comedian Bambino who has graced various stages, including recently at the State Theatre in Pretoria,” she said, adding that the event would take place at 7pm on April 23 and that tickets go for P100.
“This event is produced by SAUTI Arts and Performance Management with support from the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture,” said TJ Dema. Tickets are available at webtickets kiosk at Riverwalk Spar stores, Kgale, Rail Park, Broadhurst, Airport Junction, Village, Kanye, Mochudi, Molepolole, Maun Delta, Palapye, Serowe, Nzano and Nswazi.
People can also buy tickets online at www.webtickets.co.bw, Maitisong at Maru-a-Pula School and Press 24 Coffee Shop at Molapo Piazza,” she concluded. END
