Tshenolo Batshogile and Boyce Batlang, well known for their operatic conversions managed to curtain close the Maitisong Festival with their fantastic classical opera pieces as usual.
The duet proved to be a perfect combination as they performed the cymentrical balanced tempo changes in their classical style, playing Mcbears Julius at the close, making a total departure from the proper classical to fascinate platonic explorers after a week of a full packed different art disciplines ranging from music, theatre, poetry, dance and visual art.
Event organiser of Maitisong Festival, Gao Lemmenyane said the festival had been a success as they managed to bring all the artistes who were invited to grace the event.
“We have succeeded in hosting all the artistes from outside and they have delivered as per our expectation,” he said.
Lemmenyane said they had managed to link local artistes, so they could network with other artistes from outside the country.
“Our mission was that whatever we must bring, must be received, and received well, an aspect which we have achieved,” he said.
He said he was adamant that the festival directors from outside had seen the potential of ‘our artistes’, adding that they were hoping that they would in future invite them to their festivals leading to their growth in their profession.
“We have invited Mile Hodgest, artiste from New York, Presley Chweneyagae, the lead actor in South African film,Tsotsi, OYO dance group from Namibia, to mention a few,” he said.
He therefore said they appreciated the support from those who came for the festival, with the hope that they took something from it and that they shall spread the word with regard to the quality of performance from “our local artistes”.
He appealed to corporate companies to fund the festival so they could groom and improve the arts and make them vibrant, creative such that they contributed to the growth of the economy. ENDS
