Mascom sessions back
13 Apr 2016
With the first Mascom Live Sessions of the year slated for April 29, fans of South African multi-racial band Freshlyground will get the chance to see them live at BotswanaCraft.
Since they came into the music scene in 2002, the Cape Town based band achieved international stardom and Botswana has always been their number one place.
Organiser of the Mascom Live Sessions, Oliver Groth, said in an interview that this year’s first show would also feature soul artists, Neo and Mpho Sebina as well as house artist, Gaone Rantlhoiwa.
Freshlyground is a multi-racial pop band while Mpho Sebina and Gaone Rantlhoiwa are the new voices making waves in the music industry. Sebina brings in soulful music while Rantlhoiwa is about kalanga house music.
Oliver added that the three artists would bring a combination of different sounds for the audience and a better way to start the first session of the year than to have these talented bunch serenading music lovers.
He further said Freshlyground was loved by the audiences in Botswana and the last time they performed in Botswana was in 2013.
Oliver indicated that tickets for the show are priced at P200 each at Botswanacraft and the show’s sponsors and partners are The Voice, The Botswana Gazette, Duma FM, Savannah, MI5 and Travelodge and he would like to thank them for their continued support.
With Mpho and Gaone being the curtain raisers for the show, Oliver said people should look forward to exhilarating performances from all artists and urged people to come on time.
“Everyone knows that our shows always start on time and we do not overbook the venue because we want people to have an all-round awesome experience and not worry about overcrowding,” he said, adding that they have always promoted responsible drinking and if people should want to drink a little bit too much, they should use cabs or ask friends who are sober to drive them.
