Artist takes Botswana overseas

Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration has applauded Trinity Mphoeng, who goes by the stage name Trinity Mpho for having put Botswana on the world map having been stationed in Canada for the past three years and living his dream of making music for the international audience and urged radio stations to play more local music.

Speaking at Trinity Mpho’s album launch, Dikgang Makgalemele, who is also the patron of Botswana Music Promoters Association, said while in Canada, Trinity was voted the World Music Artist of the Year under the African Entertainment Award. He added that he won which demonstration that he was doing something right.

“He has represented us well and we hope his return to Canada will result in much bigger things to come,” he said.

Makgalemele said Trinity’s music incorporates Setswana culture and that it makes him different from other artists.

“This is his second album and it has nine smooth tracks and promises to be a favourite in local and international airwaves and charts,” said Makgalemele, adding that “it is a testimony that Batswana artists have come of age.” 

Makgalemele further said the music industry needs to see more Botswana artists collaborating and working together. 

“This is Trinity’s second offering titled African Sunset many years after his debut album Theohang, and you can tell that he has grown,” he said.

He said the contribution, unwavering support and revitalisation of local music, arts and culture made by President Lt. Gen. Dr Ian Khama cannot go unrecognized. Ends
